A new, gendered restroom facility with a janitor’s room and flagpole plaza was designed for the Culpeper County, VA, Department of Parks and Recreation to be located adjacent to the existing pickleball court. The exterior of the 715 SF structure will be clad in fiber cement siding for long-term durability and the interior walls of the restrooms will be faced with an alternating pattern of multi-colored, fiber reinforced plastic panels for durability and to add visual interest to the interior.
The site immediately around the restroom facility will include a flagpole plaza, concrete paving along each side of the facility, and along the west side of the pickleball court. The plaza will contain three flagpoles, flanked by steps on the north side and a ramp for handicap accessibility on the south side. A retaining wall will also be provided along the west side of the pickleball court to create an arrival focal point for the updated site and to minimize site wash-out and soil disturbance.
