This project was the first for-profit residential development to occur east of Meridian Hill/Malcom X Park. It involved the complete gutting of and additions to two circa 1940 residential buildings that had been abandoned and or were in various states of disrepair but had excellent views to the south toward the Potomac River and to the west to Connecticut Avenue. Although done in two phases, the two buildings are treated as two separate but complementary designs linked by an exposed steel ‘bridge’ that contains outdoor terraces for the two buildings and are located at different levels with the bridge structure. Each building has a penthouse with private deck and lower units in the south building have outdoor balconies facing the park or, in the north/upper building, an angled bay that extends over the front yard to provide views down 15th Street to the river.
