This large residential unit is located in an 8 unit condominium building with expansive views to the south and federal buildings and was customized for the individual purchaser. The master bedroom was moved to the living/front of the unit and a full, interior glass wall added to open the bedroom to those views. Maple plywood built-in events were designed and fabricated for several areas as focal points; one, as a display and storage headboard behind the master bedroom bed, visible from the living room through the glass; two, as a fireplace surround that also contains the large-wall mounted television; three, as an under-stair cabinetry wrap that provides storage for IT equipment and four, as a similar maple panel design added in a niche near the rear bedroom to continue the wood vocabulary through the rest of the unit. In addition, a custom, moveable table was designed and fabricated for the kitchen; it uses the kitchen countertop material and that material visually flows out, over and down the counter and unto the tabletop. The table is on lockable castors so that it can, when not parked by the kitchen, be wheeled around the room for use as a more formal dining room table.
